In soft neon, romanticism asserts itself in a world of numbers and figures. The individual, longing, pleasure: as intimate manifestos, they confront that which today isolates life and thought.
In his neon installations, Stefan Strumbel makes use of quotes from songs or everyday conversations.

This Quote dates back to 2006, when there was a participation project at the Maxim Gorki Theater in Berlin, in which Yvon Jansen - now 48 and a member of the ensemble at Schauspiel Köln - also interpreted the title "Wann strahlst du?" (lyrics: Barbara Stützel) - which then, according to the record label, "miraculously took on a life of its own and has since been flying around the German-speaking world as a minor hit."

Last fall, Carsten Meyer ( @erobiqueoffiziell ) and Jacques Palminger (lyricist, musician and member of Studio Braun) released the new album "Yvon im Kreis der Liebe" with Jansen.

Since the beginning of his artistic career, the examination of the thematic complex "heimat " has been the central guiding theme. In graphics, objects, sculptures, and expansive installations, he explored the concept of home and transformed folkloric imagery.

A game of perceptions. That he focuses on an already anthropomorphized figure in the form of Bambi only heightens the proximity of those threats to ourselves that we like to consider detached from us. As a medicinal plant, the forest fruit was known in past centuries, but was probably little used. Today, the leaves are purely a filling drug, the root is obsolete, and the fruits play a role at best in food tea production as a flavor corrigendum. For this, other evidence is all the more striking; the forest fruit appears regularly in folklore and art not so much for its medicinal uses, but for its typical appearance. Above all, the attribution to Mary is obvious, although it was also considered a heavenly food of the blessed and a demon repellent with erotic connotations. The forest fruit is a fine example of how a plant can be an object not only of botany, medicine and pharmacy, but also of cultural history.
